Cloth is basic to life — beautiful or ugly — and evokes a sense of quiet. These paintings are based on my own imagination, not still lifes. I have used this concept to interpret time, change, and seasons.
ANCIENT BOAT PAINTINGS 2002-2004
This series symbolizes ships, by fragmented shapes and abstracted sails, lost under waves and time. They hint at what once exhisted, invoking a sense of mystrey. The limited color palet of black, gold, red, light blue or green is lifted from faded, ancient works, but also is used to create a regal feel.
MISC. PAINTINGS 1997-2008
These paintings were created between other series, and don't fit under a specific category. Some were made during my university years. Others are examples of experimentation along lines I did not eventually follow or show an early interest in a subject that was later defined better in other works.
