Apple blossoms, orchids, wildflowers — snippets and vignettes are gathered with a camera and transferred into original acrylic paintings. Since 2008, I've been painting the beautiful, quiet things I find in nature on walks along dead-end roads, mountains, gardens and other venues. I am interested in intense, vibrant color or stark winter scenes, but also interesting compositions; natural patterns in tree branches or leaves.
Some of my images were based on plants/trees that have been removed; the painting is not the living plant itself, but a relic of what once was. Perhaps, of what will be again. The rich vibrant history of symbolism connected with the garden, trees, plants, wildflowers and nature is something I am aware of invoking, with minimal attention to words.
Depending on my time schedule, I may be able to create custom pieces. Contact me with your specific idea!
