Thank you for visiting my website and online portfolio. As a painter, I began my interest in art as a young child. My mother, who incidentally shares the same name as myself, is a wildlife painter and illustrator and provided paper and art supplies before I was walking. I really do not remember a time when I wasn’t engaged in painting.
In 1998 I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a BA degree in art, emphasis in painting. Following school, I lived in Chicago for eight years, where I worked as a graphic designer for numerous brands, products and companies. A few of them are: Expo Dry Erase Markers, Lowe’s line of patio furniture, National University of Health Sciences, and Aldi Grocery Stores.
After Chicago, I relocated to New Mexico. During this period my paintings have changed to an interest in flowers and leaves, since that is where I have found meaning for me. My paintings are not meant to be merely decorative, but many include subtle poetic elements that are derived from experience and reference to life. I like to bring together abstract and minimalist elements with a touch of realism.
A few things I endorse, because they are essential to how I work:
The Classic Tales Podcast. I have been listening to this for several years now, while I paint. I love classic lit, and BJ Harrison has a real knack for bring literature to life. And it’s free! Download your free podcast every Friday or purchase books and past podcasts through his website. I would recommend “A Room with a View” or “The 39 Steps.”

Ampersand Artist Bords. Materials matter. I want to create paintings that will last and have the best quality. Several years ago I started using Ampersand’s Artist Panels and Claybords exclusively for my paintings, because simply, I love the texture, the flexibility and the quality. I don’t worry about shipping because I know they will hold up and not be damaged.
